01 Origin

From the heart of the coconut, a gentler way to grow.

Every coconut is wrapped in a thick, fibrous husk that was usually burned or thrown away. Between its long fibres is a soft, spongy material that holds water and lets roots breathe. This is coco peat.

CocoZiva collects these husks, washes the peat until its EC is low, dries it in the sun and presses it into clean, compact bricks. It is a renewable growing medium that replaces peat moss and heavy garden soil.

  1. A large pile of coconut husks under palm trees01

    Husk collection

Mature coconut husks are gathered from coconut farms after harvest. They are a natural by-product that would otherwise go to waste.

  2. Softened, aged coconut husk pieces02

    Natural ageing

The husks are soaked and left to age naturally, which softens them so the fibre and pith separate cleanly.

  3. Close-up of golden coir fibre separated from the husk03

    Fibre separation

The long coir fibres are drawn out. What remains is the soft, spongy pith: coco peat.

  4. Washed coco peat moving along a processing line04

    Washing & buffering

Fresh water washes out the excess salts until the EC is low and safe for tender roots.

  5. Coco peat spread across an open drying yard under the sun05

    Sun drying & sieving

The peat is dried under open sun, then sieved to an even, fluffy texture.

  6. Compressed coco peat bricks on the drying yard06

    Pressed into bricks

It is compressed into 1 kg and 5 kg bricks that are compact, light to carry and ready to come alive with water.

03 Why it works

What happens beneath the surface.

Coco peat gives roots the three things they need most: steady moisture, air and room to grow.

A young seedling rising from dark soil 01

Seeds settle in

Soaked coco peat stays evenly moist without becoming waterlogged. Seeds get the steady moisture they need to germinate, and the surface never dries into a crust.

Rows of healthy seedlings in trays 02

Roots breathe

Tiny air pockets between the fibres carry oxygen to young roots. Seedlings grow strong and the risk of root rot drops.

Roots spread freely

The loose texture never compacts, so roots travel further and form a dense, healthy root ball, even in a small pot.

A city building with balconies full of plants 04

Made for city gardens

It is far lighter than soil, so it is safe on terraces and balconies. It holds water through hot city days, and it is clean and odourless for growing at home.

  • Water less often

Holds up to 8–10 times its weight in water.

  • Light on your terrace

Far lighter than garden soil, so pots are easy to move.

  • Plant-friendly pH

About 5.5–6.8, which suits vegetables, herbs and flowers.

  • Clean & odourless

No weed seeds and no mess, so it works well indoors.

  • Renewable

A natural alternative to peat moss.

  • Reusable

Lasts several seasons and enriches the soil as it breaks down.

07 Questions

Good to know.

What are your prices?

Coco Peat Brick 1 kg: ₹119. Coco Peat Brick 5 kg: ₹379. Loose coco peat: ₹39 per 0.5 kg, with a minimum order of 5 quantity.

What does “Low EC” mean?

EC (electrical conductivity) measures the salt content of coco peat. High salt can burn young roots and stop seeds from germinating. All CocoZiva products are Low EC only. We wash out the excess salts, so the peat is safe and ready for your plants.

Is delivery free?

A delivery charge applies to every order. Orders above ₹600 get free delivery.

Do you supply wholesale?

Yes. We supply up to 10 tonnes per order without any delay. For orders above 10 tonnes, please place a pre-order and we'll confirm the schedule.

How much does a brick expand?

A 1 kg brick yields about 12–15 litres, and a 5 kg brick about 70–75 litres of growing media.

Can I use coco peat without soil?

Yes. It works on its own for seedlings, microgreens and hydroponics. For long-term plants, mix it with soil and compost to give them nutrients.
